Ribbon cutting ceremony with former local MLA Dave Chutter at the entrance of Yale Museum in the summer of 2003. The ceremony marked the occasion when the local historical society once again took over operations of the Historic Yale Site. Yale continues to embrace her past as she celebrates her future.

1970's

The Yale and District Historical Society was formed. The society would prove invaluable to the formation of the Historic Yale Museum. The government toys with the idea of purchasing the remaining historic buildings in Yale and making the town one of their top heritage attractions.

1980's

The Church and Museum are included in the Historic Yale Site, providing the YDHS with the ability to open its doors to the public. Historic Yale Museum was born.

1990's

New managers moved into Historic Yale and took over operations although YDHS would maintain possession of all artifacts and exhibits housed within.

2000's

The government of B.C. makes the decision to privatize their heritage sites, and the devolution process begins. Former managers, Fraser Heritage Society, opted to bid only for the Kilby Store and Farm leaving YDHS to enter their bid to operate, maintain and preserve Yale for future generations. Yale is awarded the contract and will be responsible for its care until 2015.

Future

A look into activities prior to the 1970's so we can better understand the future and all that it has to offer. YDHS hopes to advance the site in order to portray the formative events that played a significant role in the development of B.C.
